Moodle Training for Teachers 



Abstract:  

 

This is the 8th annual M4TEVO session. The first M4TEVO session started in 2012. The goal of the M4T EVO 2020 session is to introduce the participants to a learning management system called Moodle for face-to-face, blended, and fully online programs. Participants will learn about resources, activities, and blocks available in a Moodle course as students and practice with the role of a teacher and manager. In weeks 4 and 5, they will work collaboratively to design and develop their own Moodle course. Participants will learn to create video tutorials using screencast-o-matic.  


Target audience:

  • Teachers of any subject or age groups
  • Anyone interested in developing and teach online courses for blended and/or fully online learning programs or the flipped classroom  

Session objectives:

By the end of the workshop learners should be able to:

  • Manage & edit course settings 
  • Manage enrolment methods and enrol users
  • Create and edit basic activities, resources, and use blocks 
  • Create video tutorials using Screencast-o-matic (free)
  • Collaborate and engage with peers
  • Create a course in a Moodle course area using the tools
  • Create badges based on activities and resources

 


Syllabus: The session syllabus. Include the major focus for each week and at least one activity or task. You will fill in the details during the training session.

time for get-acquainted introductions and practice with session tools as appropriate during the first week. Be as specific as you can at this stage of your planning.

Nellie Deutsch, Ed.D. is a Canadian long distance teacher, runner, and healer. She is an English language teacher to speakers of English as a foreign language and academic writing and speaking coach. She has been teaching EFL in the public school system and at universities for over 40 years. Her teaching expertise include junior high school (ages 12-15) team leadership and adult teacher development. 

She holds Doctor of Education in educational leadership specializing in curriculum and instruction. She researched instructor experiences with implementing technology in blended learning courses in higher education in 7 different countries.

She organizes free annual online events (Moodle MOOCs, Virtual World MOOCs, online conferences such as MMVC11-19 and COO9-CO19. She also helps coordinate and co-moderates Electronic Village Online Sessions) and mentors educators on how to "teach as a way to learn" both face-to-face and online using WizIQ, ZOOM, Moodle, Google Drive, Padlet, VoiceThread, and Screencast-o-matic.
